Encounter the People
Northern Arizona's Native lands and people are often overlooked by many a passing traveler. Familiar and worthy destinations such as the Grand Canyon draw scores of visitors each year, while Native lands sit quietly nearby.
Part of NANACT's mission is to familiarize potential visitors with the majesty of Northern Arizona's Native lands and people. Just beyond the eastern reaches of Grand Canyon National Park, visitors can discover a world of ancient culture, breathtaking scenery, stunning art, and vibrant life.
Two prominent tribes in Northern Arizona are the Hopi Tribe and the Navajo Nation. Learn more about these magnificent people and their crafts, such as famed Navajo rugs or Hopi katsina dolls, by exploring NANACT's fascinating Hopi and Navajo sections. Other topics include: Hopi basketry, Hopi pottery, Hopi jewelry, Navajo basketry, Navajo pottery, Navajo sandpaintings, and Navajo jewelry.
